Érablière Escuminac came into being in 1998 when Martin Malenfant decided to set up his sugarwood on land where maples have been grown for centuries, covering 500 hectares at Escuminac in the Baie-des-Chaleurs in the Gaspé Peninsula. The mission of the business is to produce the best possible maple syrup, while respecting the terroir and the environment.
Ecocert Canada certified, all the syrups produced by this sugarwood are organic and produced sustainably, with the utmost respect for nature.
The centuries-old hillside forest is located near the Atlantic Ocean. It benefits from a unique climate and terroir (sedimentary rock and seashells). The salt air from the sea, its terroir and its micro-climate make it one of the best places in the world for maple syrup production. Just like Burgundy, for wine!
Escuminac produces a real maple syrup “de terroir”, harvested, processed and bottled on the property, by Martin Malenfant, Master maple-grower/producer for more than 25 years. For this premium line, Escuminac selects only its best barrels. This is one of the only craft-produced syrups available on export. It is used by the greatest chefs and mixologists in the world.
