History
Érablière Escuminac was born in 1998 when Martin Malenfant acquired a maple grove of 60 000 notches at Escuminac in the Baie-des-Chaleurs, Gaspésie. But the destiny of Érablière Escuminac started writing itself years before that.
Martin Malenfant has been in the maple universe ever since he was a young child. Fascinated by the force and beauty of his grandparents' maple grove, young Martin Malenfant spent his time going from one end of the maple grove to the other. It is knowing so, that he buys a maple grove situated in Ste-Rita in 1987.
What follows is not written in the stars, but in those magnificent trees that populate the forest. Martin Malenfant wants to produce top quality syrup while being highly respectful of the environment, in harmony with nature that he holds dear. And so was the path of the maple syrop producer drawn: produce biological and top quality syrup without a doubt.
After years of work, research and innovation, Martin Malenfant finally gives birth to Érablière Escuminac in 1998. As of today, Érablière Escuminac is composed of 500 hectares of forest and 113 000 harvested trees all of which are either located in Érablière Biencourt in the Bas St-Laurent, producing maple syrup and in Érablière Escuminac in the Baie-des-Chaleurs, Gaspésie, where a forest of (yellow) birch trees with an enormous potential can be found.
Martin Malenfant's passion and interests for ecological practices allow Érablière Escuminac to leave its mark in Canada's agro-alimentary history. In addition to offering highly sought high quality biological products within and outside the boundaries of the country, Érablière Escuminac started offering birch syrup in April 2010.
In the Micmac language, Escuminac means for certain « meeting place » while, for others, it means « small fruits up to here ». For our sake, Érablière Escuminac is a meeting place for both men and nature. The murmur of the wind in the maple leaves of Érablière Escuminac is the proof that everyone has found happiness.

Agricultural merit
 Érablière Escuminac respects, to the letter, strict regulations at all time during production: forest management, notching of the trees, sap harvesting, stocking, transformation and equipment cleaning.

 In 2003, the enterprise is certified biological by Écocert Canada, an organism that grants biological certifications accredited by the CAAQ and the USDA.
